Like most, there was always something sweet on special occasions in my house as a child. I grew up baking cakes and hiding them in the lazy Suzan while my mom was at work (who bakes and hides cakes?).
Well, that would be the start of my 30-year journey as a Restauranteur, Culinary Instructor, Food Truck Owner and Doctoral Candidate helping people taste the sweeter side of life with just one bite.
The pandemic hit the reset button for most of us, which is profoundly important. The realization of truly making a brand that would not just help my family but also the community in which we live while being kind to the environment is part of Dr. Brownies mission.
We seek to shift what job training programs look like, from a heavy concentration in finance to plant-based cooking skills. Our job is to give our partners a sense of dignity to dream big at any age.
Transitioning to any type of lifestyle choice is difficult. I found sweets were the easiest way to usher me into this amazing plant-based life. Throughout my career (that is another story) I have used my superpower of food to connect with people from all walks of life, for this I am grateful. Health consciousness has prompted me (and my vegan son) to shift my baking, no eggs, no dairy, and some gluten-free. Come along on this journey and experience a new type of brownie.
